In this guide, we'll show you some tips and tricks (like verified chats and sending money via SMS) that will help you get the most out of iMessage. Here's what you need to know.
You can also check out some of the other features expected to come with iOS 16, that you can check on official site, including five hidden iOS 16 features we didn't expect to find and some of the more annoying iOS 16 features and how to fix them.
Configure iMessage Settings
It's a good idea to open the Messages settings screen and spend a few minutes going through the various options and configuring how your messages work. The most important thing is to check your send and receive settings.
I can't tell you how many times I've been asked why a message appears on a Mac or iPad but not on an iPhone - or vice versa. Fortunately, it's easy to fix: don't use your email addresses, just use your phone number in the Send and Receive section of your message settings.
Or if you don't have an iPhone but use iMessage on Mac and iPad, make sure your send and receive settings are identical. Here I have a comprehensive overview of the process.
Other settings determine, for example, whether there are read receipts for each iMessage conversation, whether you want to forward text messages (those green bubbles) to other Apple devices, or how long you want to keep messages on your iPhone. on your device and so on. Take a few minutes to review each option and decide how you want your messages to work.
If you're new to iMessage and not sure how to turn it on, skip to the bottom of the message. We cover the process there.
Backing up iMessage with iCloud
Constantly keeping your iMessage conversations in sync across all Apple devices is one of our favorite benefits of Apple's messaging platform. Apple uses iCloud messages to support and synchronize conversations (including text messages).
The short version of the guide is: Go to Settings > tap your name > iCloud and make sure the switch next to Messages is turned on.
Remember that if you delete a conversation on one device, it will be deleted on all your devices. This also means that if you chose to keep conversations for only 90 days, the iCloud backup of your messages will follow suit.
