7 Tips for Making a Great Presentation-2021
A presentation is one of the best ways to effectively communicate an idea or an opportunity. It can determine whether you get that big promotion, close the biggest sale or even win over investors at your next business pitch. You can always refer dissertation writing services. Below are 10 tips and ideas that will help ensure your next presentation is effective:
#1 - Know Your Audience
This should be the first thing on your mind when preparing a presentation. Before you even think about putting ink on paper, first understand who you are preparing it for. Be sure to have a clear understanding of their needs and interests; do they want facts or action? Do they want short, succinct points or more details? Each audience will need different information so tailor your presentation to your audience's needs.
#2 - Be Clear and Concise
The goal of a presentation is to get people excited about what you're saying, not the length of your sentences. Read over your slides and remove everything that isn't absolutely necessary. Cut out any extra words so that you can make each word count. Typically a slide should have no more than nine words on it – if it has more than twelve then it's probably worth presenting in another format besides PowerPoint (email, poetry, video, etc.). You want to keep slides simple; avoid using complicated design elements like 3D or gradients because they tend to clutter up slides – remember simplicity sells!
#3 - Always Remember Your Point
Why are you giving this presentation in the first place? Before you start writing a single word, ask yourself, "What is my main point?" Establish this and stick to it throughout your entire presentation. Remember that your audience already has plenty of demands on their time so don't waste theirs by boring them with too much information – make every slide count.
#4 - Include an Agenda or Outline
This should go without saying but take a look at most presentations and you'll see they're lacking one of these two things. If I were presenting to someone about something as important as our business strategy for next year then I'd want an outline to follow along with so I could be sure not to miss anything. This will help ensure you stay on task during a presentation and also allow your audience to follow along.
#5 - Keep in Mind the Three "W"s: Who, Why & What
With any presentation you're promoting a product or service so be sure to clearly state what does it do? (what), why should the audience care about it (why) and who is making this product/service possible (who)? Presentations are often prepared for investors or potential clients but if your company doesn't include any information about itself on its website then it isn't taking advantage of one of the biggest sales tools at its disposal. An effective presentation serves as an introduction between two entities – most likely it will lead to additional communication so make sure both parties know who they're dealing with.
#6 - Provide a Mock-up or Prototype
Do you have something you'd like to sell? Have you started building an app or planning a new website? If so, then make sure your mock-ups are ready before presenting. You can get your mock-ups from a thesis writing service. Having professional looking slides with generic shapes that represent what it is you're trying to promote is much more impressive than words and colors on paper. You want your audience to see ideas in action and not just words because this represents the most effective way of getting across what it is they'll be paying for. Just remember that people love seeing pictures but excel spreadsheets aren't particularly interesting!
#7 - Design With Your Audience In Mind
Before designing slides use the age old Method of Likeness – if your audience were a brick wall what color would it be? A brown one, right? Well then design your slides the same way you'd paint that wall – use simple colors and big fonts. Be sure not to go overboard with animations or fancy transitions because these will just distract people from what is important. Remember, too much information can be as bad as too little so play around with different versions of each slide and see which works best for you and your audience.
